Change - A Good Thing or Not?

I've been thinking a lot about change lately. We have undergone quite a bit of change these last few months - moving to SC, leaving our grandkids to make the move (they're older now and doing more and more with their friends), trying to establish myself here as a local author, getting ready for a long trip to Canada with my sister, meeting new people/neighbors, the list goes on. There are different levels of change, of course. Some can be simple like joining a club to meet new people or it can be something big like leaving an old job for a new one. Is some change good and others bad? Are they all good? What happens if the change is a result of something out of our control? What can be learned from change?

I'm a firm believer in change and I've always believed that.

And I believe this quote...how can one grow without change? It's one of the only constants in our lives (along with paying taxes and dying at some point).

Even though it can be scary at times, life DOES get better if we accept it and express gratitude for it.

This is another great quote. There is magic in new experiences, new challenges. Dreams DO come true! Quite often work is involved in achieving those dreams...so worth it though!

Magic really happens.

Let me tell you a story about our decision to move to SC. We love the Myrtle Beach area, lived there from 2013-2017. Even when we returned to Texas, we always returned the 1st week of December to visit friends and see all the Christmas shows and Night of a 1000 Candles at Brookgreen Gardens.

Such was the case in 2023. We had scheduled a trip for 3-10Dec back in August. It was early November (maybe late October) that we decided to move back. We figured that we'd look for a place when we arrived there in December. So I started looking online at new communities in the Myrtle Beach area as well as condos. Jose suggested that I look in golf communities as well. We found a house in a beautiful golfing community and, while we looked at other areas, we kept going back to that house. It was beautiful. The house had been on the market for awhile but we knew it was the perfect house for us so we didn't want to wait to make an offer and we didn't want to look anywhere else. Even though it was sight-unseen (in person), we made the offer around Thanksgiving and it was accepted! The inspection was completed after Thanksgiving. The day after we arrived in SC for our Christmas trip, we walked through the house for the first time. It was as spectacular as we believed it would be. Absolutely everything fell into place through the entire process, including a great deal from the sellers on the purchase of the furniture and stuff in the house (we would have had to furnish the entire house).

Magic happened all along the way. And our new beginning has been smooth and magical. I believed it would. I expected it to be.

I believe in the goodness of change, I'm excited by it, and I definitely embrace it! :)

How do you feel about change? Do you run from it or embrace it? I hope you embrace it!
