Christmas Wishes

kadyhinojosa

As our family has grown, celebrating Christmas almost became a chore for the kids/grands. They celebrated multiple times during the day with Santa's arrival, going to in-laws, time with their mom (I'm a stepmom), and by the time they came to us they were tired, not hungry,...you get the idea.

So we decided to take the pressure off of everyone. Many moons ago (before Q and the twins were born, even before Jose married Kim), we started celebrating the Saturday before (or after) Christmas Day. They arrive in the morning and we have plenty of time to open gifts, play, prepare and eat our dinner, watch a movie, and play some more. There is no rush, everyone is relaxed and laughing and having a great time! We love it and we love that time with them! It's quality time we can spend with our family, enjoying each others' company, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

We also decided long ago not to have a traditional Christmas meal with them. So we enjoy Alaskan King Crab legs, ribeye steaks, scalloped potatoes, and veggies, plus dessert (of course).

Christmas Day, for us, is celebrating the birth of Jesus and being grateful for the many blessings in our lives. It's being with each other, celebrating the relationship we have and the love we share for each other. It's a very peaceful, beautiful time together.

However you celebrate Christmas, I hope it's filled with joy, love, and hope. Merry Christmas everyone!
