Christmas is near and I am feeling incredibly blessed. I always do, regardless of what's going on in the world or in my world. I believe there is always something for which to be grateful. Today, I am grateful and blessed to have treated my daughter-in-love to her birthday lunch, and to have enjoyed the evening with my husband.
I made 12 bags to give to some people who are homeless and today I handed out the 1st two. James came to the window of our truck and with a big smile on his face said, "Hi, I'm James and this is Oscar." He pointed to a veteran sitting in a wheelchair. "I would appreciate it if you'd say a prayer for us," he continued. I smiled and said that I would. I handed him 2 bags and wished him a good day. As I was pulling away, I heard him say to Oscar, "Wow! Look at the stuff we got." Each bag has $20, a beanie cap, a blanket, socks, toothbrush and toothpaste, liquid soap, 5 or 6 Kind bars, some trail mix and a few other small things. Stuff that I can eat anytime of the day, or buy and enjoy. At times, stuff that I take for granted. These 2 gentlemen were so grateful for what they received. I left feeling humbled and glad that I had stopped.
So what I am most grateful for today is being in a position to help others. I pray they will be all right.
